Portraits
Portraits are created by direct observation and /or with photos. My goal is to blend the edges of direct observation, memory and modes of representation. Superheroes and villains are a recurrent theme, as iconography plays a central role in creating and depicting a character with palpable traits. I often paint myself in various guises, whether hero or villain. There are also characters painted from photos or toys only, but the desire is to give these an air of believability as well.
